Since you guys are talking about .ls files ("File IO"), has anyone noticed
that the externally linked scripts sometimes require a kisk in the ass
before they're updated properly? My impression is that D8 actually stores a
copy of a linked script internally, and when you edit the script, and save
it to disk, sometimes it is the earlier version that gets executed--at
least until you resave the dir file under a different name, or reopen it.

Many times I actually had to quit D8 before my changes in the externally
linked script took effect. (Even though I made these changes from D's own
script editor--I don't use external script editors.)

At one point I actually deleted the script from the movie, saved the movie
(under the same name), and the handlers still ran! It was only when I
closed D8, restarted it, and reopened the movie, that the absence of the
script was noticed.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a way to kick Director into
making it aware of the changes in the linked script? Or is it just me?

I've seen this both under Windows 2000 and Mac OS 9.04.
