Here's some more followup information: 1. Kphone's DTMF does work with viatalk. It's tone is a lot longer when pressed (suggesting tone length matters), but I'm not exactly familiar with that.
2. My linksys pap2T device only works when I select "in-band" in the settings.
This suggests that viatalk does not properly support out-of-band signaling.
(This also suggests that kphone uses in-band signaling, as I can arbitrarily
hold down the DTMF tone for as long as I want.)
3. I've attached a sample (failing DTMF) log file from linphone to a sample
1-800 number that requires DTMF interaction.
For now I'm using kphone, but I like linphone's UI better.
I'd be happy to provide anymore information
that would help track down the problem.
