Hello,
This issue is about the video resolution during video call.
When I use Linphone on a laptop running on Lubunut lts OS, and connected to a
full HD webcam, Linphone automatically downgrades the resolution.
-on the same laptop, I have a dual boot partition with lubuntu and windows 10.
When I use Linphone on the Win10 partition, with the same external camera
(Logitech 4k Brio), the video quality is really good, full HD. Therefore the
problem seems limited to the Lubuntu partition.
-on the Lubunut partition, I can use the programme cameractrls , and I get the
full HD (even 4k) resolution from the webcam.
-if I connect the webcam to a different laptop and I do video call to the
Lubuntu laptop, Linphone on the lubuntu laptop shows the incoming video from
the other laptop with full HD resolution.
Therefore, the problem appears to be between Linphone and the connected camera,
since the Lubuntu OS shows to support full HD.
On Lubuntu, I am using Linphone 6 (version 6.0.0). All video codecs are
enabled: AV1, H264 and VP8.
Following some information I found online, I also attempted to change the video
resolution in the Linphone configure file, at "~/.config/linphone/linphonerc "
I have manually replaced the following two arguments under the "video" section
from the default "vga" to "hd1080":
[video]
max_conference_size=hd1080
size=hd1080
However, as soon as I launch Linphone, and also after a laptop reboot, the
argument for "max_conference_size=" returns to vga.
I also noticed, that while "max_conference..." is forced to return to vga,
"size" remains at "hd1080", however the video call quality is significantly
worse compared to when arguments are set to vga.
I would appreciate any insights or recommendations on how to effectively
address this problem.
Thank you and best regards,
