Well, it's not a guarantee, but I do this...
I point my web browser to the FTP server, and cut and paste the directory
listing into a file on my Linux box. I use the filename of "tmp". Then, I
do an "ls -l>lsl" command. Then I run this REXX script:
#!/usr/local/bin/regina
/* rexx */
trace e
'rm tmpo lslo'
infile1="tmp"
infile2="lsl"
outfile1="tmpo"
outfile2="lslo"
do i=1 by 1 while lines(infile1)>0
        inline=linein(infile1)
        parse var inline arg1 arg2 size arg4 arg5 arg6 arg7 name rest
        outline=size" "name
        call lineout outfile1,outline
end i

do j=1 by 1 while lines(infile2)>0
        inline2=linein(infile2)
        parse var inline2 arg1 arg2 arg3 arg4 size arg6 arg7 arg8 name rest
        outline=size" "name
        call lineout outfile2,outline
end j;
'rm lsl'

Then I do this:
diff tmpo lslo | grep rpm

Anything that pops out needs to be (re-)downloaded.

When I have tried to download all the individual files, I have always had
problems with the thing dying in the middle some where. Then it is hard to
know what is missing or if it is complete. With the .iso files, when I get
done I can to an md5sum on three or four files and verify that it is ok.

How do you verify that you have all the files, and they are correct, when
you have a ton of them?
