Yeah. Gee, spose somebody should tell them that Linux/390 runs on an LPAR?
That would take away about 2/3 of the argument, which I found to be a very
long stretch anyway. Never mind that their numbers were all off by a factor
of nearly three. I did find the user comments on Slashdot interesting,
though. Those with experience seemed to be about 2:1 saying that S/390 was
a great platform for Linux.

Perhaps Sun took offense to the DeveloperWorks article telling everyone how
to port off of Solaris? :=)

Sun's still at it. A co-worker forwarded me a URL to a Slashdot posting
that references yet another attempt by Sun to discredit Linux/390. They
even had the gall to use linuxvm.org as a footnote reference to try to
bolster their claims. :( They also reference a Sytek Services
presentation
that talks about support costs for Linux/390. The Sun executive makes a
big
deal of pointing up all the costs in the Sytek document, but fails to
mention that even so, it's cheaper than running Sun boxes with their
support
costs.

I guess it hurts to be on the receiving end of a good rear-end-kicking by
IBM and Linux.

So, for the sake of completeness, take a look at:
