Thanks, using dasdfmt did solve the problem and I also had to IPL after dasdfmt before I could run Anaconda.

I think the re-IPL addresses the situation where even fdasd will fail after dasdfmt was done, unless you IPL in between. Depending on the world you come from, people may think that it is enough to only format cylinder 0 and label the volume. It is, but only when you dasdfmt the disk before using fdasd. Rob
