We just ordered a new z/800 (2066-0A2) with one IFL. We are looking at
running Linux/390. We don't have any "hard" plans, but the IBM sales person
was very persuasive to our non-techie management. Anyway, I've not messed
with VM since the VM/370 days. Is it still relatively simple to set up? I
think that I would prefer to run Linux/390 under z/VM from the get-go so
that I don't need to mess around later when somebody decides they want
another Linux/390 instance running. Is this reasonable?

Also, I think that z/VM is coming with the z/800, but where do I get
Linux/390? How much does it cost? I've looked at the RedHat site (since I
run RedHat Linux/Intel at home), but can't see anything. There is a download
page at http://www.suse.com . I actually set up SuSe 7.1 Linux/390 on my
home system some time ago (using Hercules/390). How good is Turbo Linux?
(hope I don't start any wars!)

Feel free to reply to me directly at mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'd also like any information on how you are using Linux/390 in a production
mode. The only UNIX we have are two Sun systems running a "Data Warehouse"
on Oracle. Everything else is Windows based, other than the traditional
OS/390 workloads.

Thanks!
