I set up my z/800 z/VM LPAR to be all Central Storage, no Expanded. z/VM supports this. The Linux/390 guests can then use this storage. Linux/390 cannot, to the best of my knowledge, use Expanded Storage at all. Since z/VM and z/Linux are both running 64 bit, this should work well. Note that I haven't actually installed z/VM and Linux on this system yet.
