Hello Mark,

This is what i get when i run bootshell

lnxtrs7 login: /sbin/bootshell: /sbin/bootshell: cannot execute binary
file
/sbin/bootshell: /sbin/bootshell: cannot execute binary file

/sbin/bootshell: /sbin/bootshell: cannot execute binary file

/sbin/bootshell: /sbin/bootshell: cannot execute binary file

I've just:

- applied the path (Patch -sp0 < ./bootshell-1.3.diff)

- run gcc -c ./bootshell-1.3.cc -o /sbin/bootshell

- do a chmod 755 /sbin/bootshell

Strace /sbin/bootshell gives :

lnxtrs7:# strace /sbin/bootshell
execve("/sbin/bootshell", ["/sbin/bootshell"], [/* 51 vars */]) = 0
strace: exec: Exec format error

Any idea ?

If you use the bootshell program all you need to do is make the CMS user
the
SECUSER for the Linux system, and do a "cp send halt" command to it.

Subject: signal shutdown

Hello

Is it possible to send a signal shutdown from a REXX/CMS to a Linux
guest ?

I don't want to force the guest but just send to it a normaly shutdown.

TIA
