So without users this is what you need. Measure again when you have a
few users, and if you cannot be there all the time run sar or other
tools to capture the utilisation of the system over time. You can not
trim Linux down to get rid of *all* cache since much of this is very
functional. When you make the virtual machine so small that you swap a
lot under average load, then you probably went a bit too far.
