Let's back up a minute, to make sure we're all talking about the same thing. Which version of Slack/390 did you install? The (old) 9.1 version, or the -current/10.0 version?
The gdm.conf file I ship, is the one I have on my system. The only change I made to it was to turn on XDMCP.
