I'm trying to install a 7.2 copy of Red Hat S/390 on a 2nd level z/VM
4.3 box. The second level VM system has a direct connection to the world
via a Bustech MAN box. The IP address I've been given for the new Linux
instance is within my subnet, so until I receive addresses in another
subnet, I figured I could install the linux box using vCTC's and proxy
arp that address via VM's TCP stack prior to moving to guest lan.

During the install process, my VM and Linux machines see each other's IP
address. I can telnet or ping from my 2nd level VM machine to Linux -
but can't ping from outside the 2nd level VM machine. When I issue a
NETSTAT ARP , I see the address of my linux instance on the Bustech
link rather than the CTC link. Is this correct?

We're not using ROUTED or MPROUTE and have no firewalls installed. What
piece did I miss along the way?

Thanks,
Dave
