Consider front-ending the Domino servers with a Linux guest or an Intel box running Exim, Amavis, and ClamAV. All three are freely-available and the Intel option allows you to do the CPU-intensive portions (spam and virus scanning) on cheap MIPS rather than doing it on the 390. Cost: Some time to set it up. An Intel PC if you choose that option. No license fees, regular updates available free, comprehensive, and provides a lot of other useful mail management capabilities that Domino can't do (at least without some big $$$). Contact me offlist if you need help setting it up. -- db PS- general question to the list: would this kind of thing be a useful appliance to have? We can generate such a thing to front end VM SMTP and z/OS SMTP fairly easily if it would be useful. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
