You can boot Linux from SCSI disks in VM 4.4. I've done it with RHEL
3.0 and SLES9. There is a great redbook describing the howto: SG24-6344

Subject: Booting Linux from SCSI Disks

Is the booting of Linux for zSeries from SCSI disks supported in z/VM
V4.4, or is that a z/VM V5 only feature?
Thanks in advance,
Robert Hodge
