Knut:

Danke. I did update the P/390 software to the 2.5.1 level and have now
gotten the kernel to initialize, so it's now on to the next step of
transferring and installing the remainder of the files.

As far as I know your P/390 should be at fixpack 2.5.1
and your LIC atleast version 012D to run Linux.
But I dont know what Debian requires in addition.

Hi:

I am trying to revive an old PC Server P/390 that I have had sitting idle
for some time. I have successfully installed VM/ESA 2.4 on it and have it
running fine. I have downloaded the disks of the latest Debian Linux/390
distribution and am in the process of installing it under VM/ESA.

When attempting to IPL the Debian kernel from the VM reader, I am getting
a program check loop. I think I have taken all the needed steps, but since
documentation on the combination of P/390, VM/ESA and Debian Linux/390 is
somewhat sketchy, I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if I need
to make changes to my system. Has anyone out there managed to do this
before? Any suggestions?

For those of you who might suggest I move to z/VM, please be aware that
the P/390 is only capable of supporting the 390/ESA architecture.

TIA.
