Matt, Ok, this is actually good news. The changes between 2.4 and 2.6 in how devices get initialized are massive, but the fact that both the modules load and don't generate errors means that you are close. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to play with 2.6 stuff, so I don't think I can take you any further, other than to say that an "ifup" command should work now. If your network was configured previously, it should still be so.
