I hope you have a test system, or the Starter system from TAPE or even an old release of CMS available. Are you using DIRMAINT ? and do you have DISKMAP available?

Something seriously stepped on MAINT's 190 minidisk, as far as I can tell. Try this: LOGON MAINT DEF 190 590 DEF 490 190 IPL 190 This makes the 490 disk, which is the clone of 190 that you do your servicing of CMS on, the 190 disk (which becomes the 590 disk). If the new 190, the 490 disk, IPLs clean, DDR it back to the 190 disk and then relabel the 190 disk so you can get a clean 190 again. BE SURE NOT TO CONFUSE THE GOOD DISK (was 490, is now 190) WITH THE CORRUPTED DISK (was 190; now it 590). (This process is detailed in your "z/VM Service Guide," under "Place Components into Production," step 12, page 3-74 in the US English version for z/VM 4.4. Skip the steps about 19E/49E, 5E5/5E6, and 193/493; go to the DDR steps and continue through "Rebuild the CMS Saved System" on 3-75. It assumes that 190 is the regular 190; if you've swapped 190 and 490 to be 590 and 190, you'll need to change the procedure accordingly.) Then figure out who or what stomped on your 190 disk. For starters, look very hard for minidisk overlays. Standard reminder: [EMAIL PROTECTED] is the better list for VM-specific questions like this.
