I follow that same recommendation and got into trouble. We installed 32-bit SuSE SLES9 and went through all the customizations and configurations only to find out that IBM will not support WebSphere on a 32-bit Linux that is running on a 64-bit processor unless you go back to SLES8.
Huh? You might ask! If you are running a 64-bit processor, you must be running a 64-bit Linux so IBM will support its 32-bit Websphere. Do not fall into that trap like I did. Install the 64-bit Linux if your processor is 64-bit. Good luck. Does anyone have any comments as to which distribution is the preferred and why (stability, performance)? We are running under z/VM V5.1 on a Z900 so we are capable of running the 64-bit distribution. Thanks in advance.
