I would suggest turning off vsftpd's ident queries.  It isn't really
buying you anything except aggravation.

We frequently get messages like this on a Linux console:

ZLP1    : Sep 23 16:56:09 zlp1 xinetd10026: Bad line received from
identity
server at 172.16.178.20: 0 , 0 : ERROR : UNKNOWN-ERROR

We run vsftpd via xinetd. I am not sure why we are getting this error.
Is it something to do with "identd" server on the connecting client
machine?

Anyone else in a similar situation?
