NFS will not descend through mountpoints of other filesystems. If you create a directory, say "/media/patchCDs", and create directories CD1 and CD2 within the first directory and mount your ISOs there, and then share /media/patchCDs via NFS, you won't be able to see the contents of CD1 or CD2 on the remote system. If you try an FTP install using the same structure, it will succeed, because FTP doesn't look at filesystem boundaries.
Personally, I think that descending into other filesystems should at least be an option in NFS, but right now, it isn't possible. To do what you want, you'd have to create two NFS shares, one for each iso mountpoint, and mount both of them in your target system separately. -- Robert P. We have some vanilla SLES9 images and some at SLES9+SP2. We have a beta (RC2) copy of SP3 which consists of 3 .iso CDs. We want to upgrade some of the images to try out SP3. (1) I mount the CDs loopback and make them available on an NFS server (2) I go into yast => Software => Patch CD Update (3) I tab to "New Server" and select "NFS", then I give the IP address and mount point (4) I start the update and all patches on CD1 are found and applied. But then the process cannot find CD2. I try to type the mount point of CD2, but it still can't find it. This seems like a bug. Thanks.
