I ran into this as well; the issue is that if you create a volume group,
YaST doesn't bother to do the requred dasdfmt. Begin the install, through
activating your dasd. Drop out to an ssh session, and do dasdfmt and fdasd
for all the devices. Then go back to the installer and continue.
I reported this problem to Novell. They seem to not feel that it is a big
issue....
