I can't say for sure, but SLES9 required a relative path from the user's home
directory to the install files, not an absolute one. The "RETR //somefile"
seems a little strange. Double leading "//" is kind of odd.

I don't know if anyone has ever tried the "Quick 'n Easy FTP" server on Windows
before as an install source. A few people have reported success with WarFTPD.

It might be interesting to see just where the install files are located, and a
directory listing of the top-level directory and the first level of
subdirectories.
