Brad, PTF UM31428 is not marked in error, so if it did not fix your problem either IBM isn't aware of a continuing problem or is is possible you are not using the appropriate load module? If not, suggest you open a pmr.

I saw a reference to this issue early last year on this list (before I subscribed), but never saw a resolution. With PTF UM31428 applied to VM 5.1, shutdown -r now is still hanging. Looks like it may be in a DIAG 44 loop. Was this fixed in 5.1, and does anyone know the PTF/APAR that fixed it? I don't see this behavior in VM 5.2.
