I found the -scp option to the PuTTY PSCP command does cause PSCP to do the EBCDIC to ASCII conversion. It does not convert newlines to CR-LF.
I am not sure why I need to specify -scp to the PSCP program to make it do the SCP protocol. This seems very odd to me. -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Kirk Wolf Sent: Thursday, August 02, 2007 11:12 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: EBCDIC to ASCII conversion; Here's a link to the z/OS OpenSSH manual: http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/zseries/zos/unix/pdf/docs/fotza104.pdf z/OS's port has the following changes: 1) scp client assumes text and converts from ASCII to EBCDIC in both directions. - I don't believe that it handles line-end conversions (Windows). - scp server mode does the same 2) sftp defaults to binary, but z/OS adds an "ascii" subcommand to the client (only) which does conversion as with scp. Therefore, you can't use sftp-server and do conversion. Note that some implementions' scp client actually use sftp's underlying protocol, but often have an option to fallback. You can even pipe the MVS data directly into the processing program, allowing for overlap of file transfer and processing.
