I appreciate all the comments, however once I looked at the Oracle
Matrix, it appears that Oracle 9i, is not and will never be supported
under SLES10.

Upgrading from SLES8 to SLES10 is not supported.  You're looking at a
new install.  Without looking at the certification matrix, I'm thinking
9i is fine on SLES10, but you should check to be sure.  You should be
able to migrate the actual database using Oracle tools, once the new
install is done.  (I'm not familiar enough with Oracle to know if a
plain cp/dd/tar copy will work or not.)
