According to the z/os 1.9 DSS Reference manual p688: "It (the Standalone RESTORE command) cannot restore from tapes created by a DFSMSdss logical dump, from a DFSMSdss tracks dump using the CPVOLUME keyword, or from dump tapes produced by other utilities." FYI.
