Hi, Stephen. That sounds feasible.....
1) ATTach the minidisk to the Linux guest 2) bring it online via the chccwdev command 3) mount it someplace in the directory structure, say, /media 4) do the backup, via tar or perhaps dd Of course this assumes two things: a) the minidisk already has a Linux file system on it b) the minidisk is big enough to contain the data being backed up. Is there anything specific that concerns you? Happy Holidays. On 12/17/2009 11:33 AM, Stephen Frazier wrote:
I would like to be able to attach a minidisk to a Linux virtual machine, and run a script that will backup everything to the minidisk. Then i coud detach it. This would be the same as on a physical server. Plugging in a USB drive and backing the server up to it. That is something that many PC linux users do. -- Stephen Frazier Information Technology Unit Oklahoma Department of Corrections 3400 Martin Luther King Oklahoma City, Ok, 73111-4298 Tel.: (405) 425-2549 Fax: (405) 425-2554 Pager: (405) 690-1828 email: stevef%doc.state.ok.us ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
