By changing these values you can limit how much space is taken up on your systems. I'm not sure just how much you're going to be saving though. On the system I checked, /var/lib/zypp/ is only taking up about 12MB. Another one is using 40MB. In any case, you can use "rug set-prefs" to change them, one preference at a time: rug set-prefs cache-max-size-hard-limit true rug set-prefs cache-max-size-in-mb 200 and so on.
