The old /dev/dasd? names were never 100% persistent, so problems could happen.  
Using /dev/disk/by-id/ isn't a good idea for systems using external storage 
arrays, which is why /dev/disk/by-path/ was created.  Use /dev/disk/by-path/ 
for any System z installations/upgrades.
