Tangentially related: if you're creating multiple GUI sessions on the same 
host, you might want to check out 'xrdp'. Xrdp allows any MS remote desktop 
client to connect to remote linuxen, and does a nice job of handling all the 
login and user session separation stuff (and the mstsc client is pre-installed 
on most versions of Windows from XP on, and easy to get on other OSes). 

We've discovered that it also is a bit more network friendly than VNC, which 
makes it more usable on tablets or other devices with limited bandwidth.
