That was it Steffen. I did a find / grep looking for vg_swap so I thought it'd pick up the zipl.conf but I must have messed up the command. In any event, I got rid of it and re-ran zipl.
Note, that rd_LVM wasn't put in manually by me but as part of the installation. Many thanks...
