We upgraded from 6.1 single to 6.3 SSI a few months ago. We created a (currently one member) second-level cluster, imported and tweaked all configuration from the 6.1 image. After checking and rechecking everything, we shut down the 6.1 image and loaded the 6.3 image. Everything worked out of the box.
We are now planning to do the same again, but now we will create a second level multi-member SSI, migrate config and load.
