The problem exists whether I come in inside the firewall or from outside
with the VPN. I cannot get ANY SSH-type connection, because Linux has
shutdown and it APPEARS that CMS has been re-IPL'd or the VM userid has been
logged off. That is, when I re-connect via 3270, I get the usual CMS prompt.
AS long as the 3270 window is kept open (NOT logged in to Linux, just
sitting at the Linux login prompt), the SSH works OK.

THANK YOU for deleting my address (unless it is pertinent), all other
addresses, and personal information from this e-mail, if you plan to forward
it. THANK YOU also for using "BCC " instead of "TO" and "CC " when
initiating e-mails to multiple users.  This may help prevent spammers and
hackers from obtaining addresses and thus may prevent spam and/or identity
theft.

Subject: Re: can't SSH after 3270 disconnect

How about from z/VM - can you telnet to the zLinux address and get and SSH
prompt? If this only affects your VPN users - I'd be looking at what
changed with the VPN implementation/network. If you can reach it
internally if you don't have an open session - then the problem isn't zVM
or zLinux... I can't imagine an open telnet session required to be open
to z/VM to reach zLinux - it doesn't 'compute'... unless it's some
funkiness in the VPN.
