Two comments:
1. Keep in mind that the chshut command is not persistent.  It only applies to 
the next shutdown, and nothing after that.
2. You shouldn't have had to even do that.  I just tried with my SLES12 system, 
and it was automatically logged off.

Just before disconnecting from the virtual machine, the status was:
# lsshut
Trigger          Action
========================
Halt             stop
Power off        stop
Reboot           reipl
Restart          stop
Panic            stop

Which is the default.
