Andrew,
message "qeth 0.0.8000: Device is a Guest LAN QDIO card (level: V614)" is confusing. It applies to VSWITCHes as well. The qeth driver supports z/VM virtual NICs for Guest LANs and VSWITCHes (there is not a real difference from a qeth point of view). In recent kernels we have changed this message to "qeth 0.0.8000: Device is a Virtual NIC QDIO card (level: V614)".
