On behalf of myself and other IBMers, I wanted to say that our close-knit IBM family was shocked and devastated when we learned of Martin's tragic death. The business moves on, of course, but on a personal level absorbing it has been both painful and slow, even our thinking about what to post here.
Everyone on this mailing list has benefited from Martin. Not only was he the most significant contributor to the initial S/390 port of the Linux kernel, he was the maintainer of the Linux s390 architecture backend. His technical expertise was unrivaled and his mentoring skills were outstanding. Martin was well known for his positive mindset and his willingness to help. We have seen your kind remembrances of Martin and thank you for them. Our thoughts continue to be with his family and friends. To Martin I would say, "Blue Skies!" He will be greatly missed.
