Rather than wait for disaster to happen, it may be better to be
proactive. For each device that is currently active, but there is no
41-* rule for it, using "chzdev -e -p" will create one. For DASD
devices, pretty much the only other thing you would need to worry about
is whether it should be defined with use_diag=1 or not. "lsdasd | grep
-i diag" will show you all of those.
This is interesting. On a SLES12-SP5 system I have, there are no 41 rules and
only 51 rules. All disks are online and server boots without a
problem. Yet on
this system, when I issue lszdev command, it lists all of the disks
but ore the persistent
column it lists 'no' for all of them. Clearly not the case!
