Do you have VMTAPE on z/VM? Broadcom has a vmtli rpm package that provides Linux functional equivalents of CMS VMTAPE MOUNT etc. The Linux vmtape mount command communicates with CMS VMTAPE over TCP/IP and provides synchronous mounting of tapes. You can mount scratch and specific VSN tapes.
