xf86setup not helping with SVGA Card

My SVGA card by Acer Labs ALI M3147V PC-Pnp Graphic Accelerator supports

• 1024x786 - upto 16bit
• 800x600 and lower- upto 24bit

I have tried a lot to get similar results under Linux REDHAT 6.0. I get 4 bit pseudo color only .How do I go about with this. Someone please guide me.
