At the end is the difference Ultra ATA/66 makes on my 5400 RPM hard
drive. These benchmarks were done using bonnie, the first is ATA/33, the
second is ATA/66. As you can see, it makes a little difference, but not
enough to influence anyone. After all, I didn't notice much difference
between 2 MBs/sec and 20 MBs/sec =). There's a bug in the patch for
stable kernels that makes it go 2 MBs/sec, seriously. I'm not sure if it
applies to the newest one, but I'm on unstable right now because of it.
Anyways, my question is, if I set the HPT366 to use ATA/33, can I boot off
a OS without switching it to the IDE slot? It gets annoying switching
every time I need to reinstall or something.
