if you run your (typical BX-based) system with FSB other than 66 or 100,
then your IDE (and PCI, and AGP, and ISA) timings will be gibberish.
your drive (video card, scsi card, sound card) is perfectly justified
in heading south for the winter if you're using some bizarre clock...
