This might not be related, but then just FYI: I have my drives connected
to the HPT366 controller, but I patch the hpt366.c to *exclude* UDMA66,
because it breaks things (with failing DMA, then freezes). The bug seems
to freeze the chipset or such, because I cannot get an IDE status byte
back after this has happened. ("Patched" the kernel to become more
chatty, the IDE chip just does not return from a simple "in"
instruction).
