I've been pretty happy with my BP6. But I had a puzzle when I tried
to get a 100baseT ethernet card. After *much* work, I've figured it
out.

The ABIT BP6 motherboard has only one Bus Master Request line shared
between PCI slots 4 and 5. So at most one Bus Mastering card may be
in those slots.

This restriction is not in the manual that came with my motherboard.
It is in the revised manual available on the web.

In slot 4, I had various 100baseT cards (I've tried 3). In slot 5, I
had my es1371 sound card. I've now placed an old RTL8039 card in slot
5 because is not bus mastering.

This also explains why my sound card used to be very noisy. It now
works quite well.

| SMP works great for me. Read The Fine Material regarding
| the slots/interrupts/bus master signals on the BP6, its
| a little interesting. Slot 3 shares an interrupt with the
| HPT366, and slots 4 and 5 use the same Bus Master signal.

This last clause is the key. How bizarre!
