I also have had trouble running my 164SX-based system for the first
time, and also whenever I would had opened it for hardware changes.

Obviously, like every computer techie, I checked for all connections:
processor, memory, PCI cards, hard drive,...

I decided to run it with minimal hardware but I still have spent hours
before I realise that it was coming from the Floppy connection to the
motherboard.  Playing up and down with this connection  (no joke
intended:)  I finally got the machine to switch on.

I regretted to have switched it off just to check that it would still
switch on again, because it did not.  I had a lot of wiggling before
I actually realized that it had to be not completely inserted, just
more than half.  Whenever I insert it completely, I reduce the chances
for it to switch on again.

I  isn't a cable problem, I tried changing it already.  It's really a
connector problem.
