Actually I am using 2.3.42 plus my axp patches and all is rock solid here:

Certainly with latest Richard henderson's patches you'll crash if you have
more than 2giga of ram. Doing the 2T support for alpha is the next thing I
have in my TODO queue after the elevator and request queue rework will be
finished.
