Hi,
I've got an Alpha "Ruffian" Samsung UX mainboard based system.
It includes an Symbios NCR53c875 controller.
I just tried to run a 2.4.test1 kernel on it and it failed
because of the SCSI setup procedure.
The kernel tells me something like
...
sym53c8xx: at PCI bus 1, device 13, function 0
sym53c8xx: setting PCI_COMMAND_PARITY...(fix-up)
sym53c8xx: 53c875 detected
sym53c875-0: rev=0x03, base=0xa100000, io_port=0xa000, irq=20
sym53c875-0: ID 7, Fast-20, Parity Checking
sym53c875-0: on-chip RAM at 0xa101000
sym53c875-0: restart (scsi reset).
sym53c875-0: Downloading SCSI SCRIPTS.
scsi0 : sym53c8xx - version 1.3g
scsi : 1 host.
And then it fails to detect the SCSI devices
(an IBM Harddisk, and a Pioneer CDROM) because of timeout errors.
any hints ?
so long
Ingo
PS: I run a 2.2.16pre7 Kernel at the moment without obvious
problems. I didn't tried any of the older 2.3 kernels,
if you think I should try one first, please give me a hint
where to start..
