SECOND ATHENS LINUX FEST KICKS OFF AT UGA TATE CENTER

August 30, 1999, Athens, GA...The Classic Hackers UGA Linux Users Group
(CHUGALUG) is sponsoring its second periodical Athens Linux Fest, ALF2.0.
The event will be held Saturday, September 18 from 11am until 7pm in the
Georgia Hall of the UGA Tate Student Center. Admission is free and open
to the public.

The purpose of the Athens Linux Fest (ALF) festival is to promote the use
of Linux. Linux is a totally free computer operating system originally
developed in 1991 in Finland by Linus Torvalds. It is now written and
supported by a loose-knit group of programmers from all over the world.
The Linux operating system will run on almost every computer platform
in use in the world today.

Those who wish to give Linux a try are encouraged to bring in their own
computers to the ALF Install Fest, where they will be able to meet with
experienced CHUGALUG members available to help them get Linux installed
and running. Registration (which is free) is required for the Install
Fest and recommended for everyone.

ALF2.0 will also feature a variety of Linux related demonstrations for
beginners and experts alike, a Quiz Bowl, a Quake Garden, and lots of
product giveaways.

Thanks to the many sponsors who have helped to make ALF2.0 possible by
either loaning equipment or donating products to be given away free at
the event. They include:

Apple, Cabletron, Caldera, Loki Entertainment, Macmillan Publishing,
Mandrake, NEC, O'Reilly, Red Hat, SuSE, TurboLinux, VA Linux Systems,
  and VMware
