Hello,
On, my pentium II based PC, I've got two ATAPI devices :
1) Toshiba CDROM Drive (XM-6102B)
2) HP CDWriter+ 7100i
Both are well recognized by the Bios and
under W95. With Linux 2.0.33, I experienced
some problem :
In order to use the program cdrecord (version
1.6), I followed the instructions embedded
in the README.ATAPI file, and so I patched
and recompiled the kernel with SCSI emulation.
(I disabled support for generic IDE, in the
Kernel options).
No error nor warning during the compilation.
Unfortunately, only the CDROM drive get recognized,
but not the HP-CDWriter :
Within the messages printed at boot time, I can't read
any message indicating hardware detection for the latter.
And If I try the command
cdrecord -scanbus
I get :
Cdrecord release 1.6 Copyright (C) 1995-1998 Jrg Schilling

Thank you for helping,
