Hi! All.
I meet some odd behavior about ps and top, they seem not
comform to their help or manpages.
1) My top could only list limited process in one screen. How can I
see more? I use 'n', '0' to set it to unlimited,
or 'n', '30' to set more, with no result. I asked in local BBS, some one
tell me to open a large xterm and run ps so that you can see more , :-).
2) Some processes which I could see use top, could not been seen by
ps, even I use the ps -a command,
3) One example, is wget, I start wget *** & in one xterm, and in
another xterm use ps to list it. Now all ok,
but when I close the first xterm, ps can never list it, even though I
know it is running in background until finish or
reboot.
Sorry for my short experience. But I really want to know these odd
things, when I testing my
MPICH, Scalapack packages.
