Hi,

I have a similar system, but not so many users,

1. I do not have time limiting... well I would like to know if you find
out something about that.

2. Squid is a very good proxy server. Fast enough and works well taking
many requests at the same time. It is included in RH 5.1 and I guess it
should be even in Slackware 3.5. It also has good security and is easily
manageable.

3. pppd is good enough... write the default settings in /etc/ppp/options
file and set pppd as a shell for the accounts. For me it works fine.

4. I use mgetty because that computer sometimes uses uucp to get email as
our internet connection is not stable enough via radio, and I use fax too.
For just incoming calls uugetty is ok. Both support high speed
connections.

wish you luck
Kledi

P.S. Please if you find out about a time limiting system, let me know, but
anyway I will look around for one.
